LADY BUCCS BEAT TRAIL IN THREE...
The Covington Lady Buccs kept the momentum rolling with a convincing three-game sweep of National Trail.

SEPTEMBER 28, 2010 - COVINGTON
Coming off of an impressive showing over the weekend with a runner-up finish at the Minster Tournament, the Covington Lady Buccs kept the momentum going with a three-game sweep of National Trail on Tuesday.

Covington won by the scores of 25-21, 25-16 and 25-15 to improve to 7-8 overall and 5-3 in CCC play.

"We played pretty well over the weekend at Minster and it carried over to tonight (against National Trail)," said Covington coach Lindsey Sullenberger. "We pretty much controlled the match."

National Trail started the contest on fire with a pair of powerful kills, but Covington quickly turned the momentum and pulled out the four-point victory.

"We started a little slow," Sullenberger said. "But we did finish better tonight and finishing games is something we've struggled with."

The Lady Buccs never relinquished the momentum the rest of the way, winning the battle at the net and covering tips on a consistent basis.

"Our tip coverage was better than it has been," said Sullenberger. "We did a good job of moving our feet."

Caitlyn Crawford, Emily Henry and Shelby Kihm combined for 23 kills, while Josselyn Tobias and Zoey Reck combined for 26 digs.

Shelby Waag tallied 27 assists as well.

"It was a team effort," Sullenberger emphasized.

Covington will need another team effort on Thursday as it travels to Miami East for more conference action.

RESERVE ACTION:
The Covington reserve team beat National Trail in three games, 25-17, 24-26 and 29-27.

Jenna Rindler celebrates a thrilling 29-27 victory in the third and deciding game of the junior varsity contest with National Trail.
