|LADY BUCCS RECORD WIN OVER RIVAL BRADFORD...
Covington evened its record to 3-3 on the season with a three-game sweep of rival Bradford.
SEPTEMBER 14, 2010 - COVINGTON
Covington cruised to a victory over rival Bradford in three games on Tuesday to even its record to 3-3 overall and 3-1 in the Cross County Conference.
The scores were 25-15, 25-11 and 25-17.
"They (Bradford) kept giving us free balls and we were able to take advantage with our hitters," Covington coach Lindsey Sullenberger said. "Our hitters did a decent job of putting the ball away."
Caitlyn Crawford led Covington in kills with 13 and also recorded three blocks on the afternoon. Emily Henry contributed with eight kills and Josselyn Tobias had six kills.
Sophomore setter Shelby Wagg recorded 16 assists for the Lady Buccs as well.
"It's a good win, but we're still no where near where we need to be," Sullenberger said. "We're still not playing to our potential and a lot of that is due to a lack of emotion."
Which surprises Sullenberger considering rival Bradford was on the other side of the court.
"I don't understand it (the lack of emotion)," Sullenberger continued. "We only get excited when we have a big kill or get a point off of a long rally, but we never get excited over a tip or when the other team makes a mistake where we get a point. A point is a point. We need to get excited on every point."
Which is what Covington will need if it wants to capture another win on Thursday at Arcanum.
