LADY BUCCS 4TH AT TIPP…
TIPP CITY - The Covington girls track team put together a strong showing at the Tipp City Invitational on Saturday, finishing fourth (50 points) out of 16 teams, many from higher divisions.
Returning standouts Heidi Cron and Anna Dunn led the way as Cron finished third in the 400 meter dash (64.47 and sixth in the 200 (28.69), while Dunn took third in the 3200 meter run in the time of 12:10.03.
From there, it was stellar effort by a lot of the younger kids as freshman Breanna Kimmel was fourth in the 200, 28.17; sixth in the 100, 13.55; and sixth in the 100 hurdles, 18.35, while Shae Robinson finished eighth in her first ever time running the 300 hurdles (54.78.
Several freshmen also contributed in relays as the Lady Buccs were fourth in the 1,600 relay (Shae Robinson, Kelsey Dysinger, Tori Lyle, Cron), 4:34.95 and the 3,200 relay (Dunn, Dysinger, Julianna Yingst, Carly Shell), 11:05.76. The 800 meter relay team (Lyle, Danielle Rose, Savanna Schaurer, Allie Angle) took seventh in 2:02.29, while the 400 meter relay team (Robinson, Schaurer, Sadie Canan, Angle) placed eighth in 57.72.
Sophomore Kelsey McReynolds took fifth in the shot put (30-5), while senior Magan Lange placed seventh in the discus (84-7). Freshman Kirsten Fries took eighth in the discus (82-10) and eighth in the shot put (28 2 3/4"). Sophomore Natalie Snyder placed eighth in the 100 meter hurdles as well.
BUCC BOYS FINISH 3RD AT VERSAILLES…
VERSAILLES - It was a big day for the Covington boys track team as the Buccs finished third in the team standings at the Versailles Invitational on Saturday.
Two seniors and one junior finished with individual championships as senior Ben Miller won the 110 meter hurdles (15.43), senior Alex Schilling won the 1600 (4:41.37 and junior Shane Straw won the long jump (18-07).
The 4x100 meter relay team of Ethan Herron, Ben Miller, Shane Straw and Casey Waag took second (47.57).
Finishing third for the Buccs was senior Nathan Dunn in the 3200 (10:16.21), Matt Carder in the 400 meter run (56.24), the 4x800 meter relay team (Dunn, Jared Ford, Adam Lefeld, Schilling) in 9:06.30 and the 4x400 meter relay team (Nathan Lyle, Zane Barnes, Deron White and Schilling) in the btime of 3:51.69.
Taking fifth for the Buccs was Shane Straw in the 100 meter dash (12.27) and Zane Barnes in the 400 (57.33). Nathan Lyle took seventh in the 400 (57.88) as did Matt Carder in the pole vault (11.00). Freshman Cade Harshbarger took seventh in the 300 hurdles (48.89) and eighth in the 110 meter hurdles (18.60).
Also taking eighth was freshman Jared Ford in the 800 meter run (2:22.89).
