The Covington boys track team took second, while the girls took third in a quad meet with Ansonia, Bradford and Newton.

The Covington boys track team took second to Bradford in a Covington Quad Meet on Tuesday. The Buccs tallied 72 team points, while Bradford won the meet with 84 team points. Ansonia finished third with 66 points and Newton took fourth with 10 points.
Claiming first for the Buccs were freshman Sam Christian in the discus (107-4) and in the shot put (40-5.5). Levi VanDeGrift took first in the 1600 meter run (5:11.4), while Willie Hoffert won the 3200 in a time of 11:25.20.
Also taking first were the 4x800 meter relay team in a time of 9:41.40.
Taking second for the Buccs were Adam Miller in the shot put (33-2), Teddy Hale in the long jump (18-6.5), Tyler Niffsinger in the 100 meter dash (12.1), Willie Hoffert in the 1600 (5:13.60) and Levi VanDeGrift in the 3200 (11:46.80).
The Covington girls finished third out of the four teams with 54 total points. Ansonia was first with 131 points and Bradford took second with 60 points.
Alyssa Angle claimed second in three events; the high jump with a height of 4'6", the 400 meter dash (1:06.30) and the 800 meter run (2:46.00).
Emily Fields also took second in the 1600 meter run with a time of 6:11.00 while the 4x800 meter relay team was runner-up with a time of 11:01.70.
The boys and girls take to the track once again on Friday at the Twin Valley South Relays.
