SEASON BEGINS WITH STELLAR EFFORT...

The second annual Covington Eagles -Lady Buccs Invitational Golf Tournament was held Monday morning at Echo Hills in Piqua. The weather was perfect and the golf was outstanding. The tournament field was made eight of the top nine finishers in last year's sectional tournament. Team and individual scores were much lower than last year. The low scores of the day were turned in by two freshmen, Jessie Jordan of Graham and Laura Murray of Tipp at 75(2 over par). Team scores with 2006 score are as follows:

1. Tippeconoe - 325(368)
2. Greenville - 351(353)
3. Graham - 373(400)
4. Fort Loramie - 384(404)
5. Covington - 384(395)
6. Versailles - 386(394)
7. Kenton Ridge - 399(416)
8. Troy - 406(402)
9 New Bremen - 457
10. Northmont JV - 484

Covington Scores: Amanda Fritts-87, Renee Otte-94, Cali Jo Deeter-101, Sarah Westfall-102, Chelsea Wackler -140, Nicole Henson-145

The Covington team score is only two strokes off the school record. The Lady Buccs are back in action Thursday at the Tiger Tee Invitational in Versailles.

The Covington Athletic Department would like to thank the Covington Eagles for sponsoring the tournament and Echo Hills for allowing us to use the golf course. Also, a big thanks to Helen Fields who prepared the food, to Diane Wackler and Denise Otte who helped serve the eighty players and coaches, and to Andy and Ashley Johnson and Craig Haver for all their work in making the event a big success.

Sarah Westfall tees up during the opening tournament of the season.
