The Covington girls golf team held an 18 hole golf tournament at Echo Hills Golf Course in Piqua. The tournament was financed by the Covington Eagles. Nine teams competed with the final results being:
Ft. Loramie 404
Kenton Ridge 416
Eight of these teams placed in the top ten in the sectional last fall.
Ashley Johnson of Covington was medalist for the tournament with a 79.
Other Covington scores were: Sarah Ciriegio - 104; Renee Otte - 103; Amanda Fritts - 110; Cali Jo Deeter - 110; and Sarah Westfall - 135.
The Covington team score and Ashley's individual score were both school

Covington finishes 14th out of 15 in the Dan Kendig Memorial tournament at Echo Hills.

14) Covington 406 (8 strokes better than last year's 414)
Covington Scores: Clark Manson 90 (started with a 52 on the back and came back and fired a 38 on the front); Kody Thiebeau 104; Nick Long 105 (first varsity action); Kyle Simon 107; Aaron Wright 107; Brent Shively 123 (53 strokes better than last years 176)
Medalist = Justin Watren (Anna) 68
"Overall things went well," said Covington coach Bill Wise. "We will improve as the season goes on."
Thanks to Chip Fox and Echo Hills for use of the course and providing the golf balls as prizes. Thanks also to Pepsi for donating the pop and the Bucc Boosters for paying for the food.

The Buccs scored a 208 in a tri-match with Russia and Ansonia at Stillwater Valley on Thursday.

Medalist = Jesse Grogean (Russia) 34
"We didn't play well on the tight, tree-lined front nine," commented coach Bill Wise. "We plaed good competition as Russia was 2 strokes off of a school record for a nine hole match."
Next the boys play at the Greenville Invitational on Monday, August 21 at 9:00 a.m.

The girl's played in the Versailles invitational at Stillwater Valley Golf Course in Versailles. The team placed fourth of 14 teams. The top five scores were Tippecanoe - 350

Minster - 383

Sarah Westfall - 118
Johnson's score was third best overall while Ciriegio, Otte and Westfall all had personal best scores. The team total again was a school record for 18 holes.
