EARLY SEASON JITTERS AFFECT BUCCS

GREENVILLE – The Covington Buccaneers opened their 2022 seasons by participating in the Greenville Invitational on Thursday at Title Creek and nerves affected their overall performance.

The Buccs hit the course with a significant amount of golfers who returned with plenty of experience, but the end result for the Buccaneers in the season opener wasn’t what was expected.

The Buccaneers finished in 11th with a team tally of 393 strokes.

“We are better than this,” said Covington coach Bill Wise. “But, this is probably the toughest course we play. I think there were a lot of first tee jitters.”

Bryson Hite and Same Grabmen led the Buccaneers with 96 strokes and Cameron Haines had 100 strokes, while both Connor Humphrey and Hunter Ray carded scores of 101 and Matthew Dieperink tallied a 103.
