NOVEMBER 7, 2020 - OBETZ, OHIO
Anyone who has paid attention over the last few years saw a young man tearing up the pavement throughout the town of Covington and even the back roads around town - running in all types of weather.
And that young man, Bennett Welborn, fulfilled a dream Saturday by competing in the state cross country championships in Obetz, Ohio, finishing 86th out of 183 runners in the time of 17:16.3.
As a state qualifier, Welborn added his name to a long list runners who have represented the black and white at state.
His success was the result of hard work, not only running on his own, but training at No Name Athletics in Piqua under Covington graduates A.J. Ouellette and Haley (Adams) Ouellette. He left a blueprint for current and future runners on what it takes to accomplish such lofty goals.
