|A MEMORABLE DAY FOR BUCC RUNNERS...
For the first time since 2001 the boys cross country team has qualified for the Regional Meet. Ashley Diltz also qualified for the third straight year.
Not since 2001 has Covington sent a boys team to the Regional meet, but six years later....the men in black are back!
Thanks to a third place finish at the District Meet, a young Buccaneer team is headed to the Regional. The top four teams qualify.
"This was a huge step for our program today," said a pleased Covington coach Josh Long. "We knew it would be a tight race between second to fifth place, but the kids came through."
Sophmore Levi VanDeGrift and Freshman Willy Hoffert both had a personal bests, each finishing in the top 16. It was a memorable race for Hoffert as he ran in the 17's for the first time.
"All of the kids ran great races," Long said. "We are excited and are looking forward to next weekend."

Covington Girls placed 9th. Ashley Diltz advances to Regionals for the third year in a row.
"The girls did the best they could today," said coach Libby Long. "I am very proud of their efforts. Last year we didn't field an entire team, so for the girls to be where they were today was an accomplishment."
Senior Ashley Diltz continued a memorable career with an 11th place finish to qualify for Regional.
"Ashley ran an incredible race," Long praised. "She had a race plan and she stuck with it. I couldn't be more happy for her and the rest of the girls."
