COVINGTON – Due to the affects of weather, Covington hosted Milton-Union on Thursday and came away with an impressive 15-0 victory in five innings.

The game was originally scheduled to be played at West Milton, but the field conditions forced the game to be moved to Covington.

The Buccs took advantage by scoring five runs in the first and six runs in the second to take an 11-0 lead.

In the first, Brairen Denson connected on a sac fly to score Tyler Jay and then Grant Blore drew a walk with the bases loaded to score Carter Owens. Connor Humphrey singled to score Tanner Palsgrove and Jacob Tipps and then Michael Hagan scored Blore on a sac fly to make the score 5-0.

In the bottom of the second, Tipps singled to score Owens and then Denson scored on wild pitch. Humphrey was hit by pitch to score Palsgrove and Hagan drew a bases loaded walk to score Tipps. Carson Taylor reached on infield error that scored Blore and Humphrey to push Covington’s lead to 11-0.

After a scoreless third inning, the Buccaneers added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth to secure a 15-0 run-rule victory.

Carter Owens singled to score Kian French and Carson Taylor and then Brairen Denson singled to score Tyler Jay and Carter Owens.

The Buccs racked up eight hits with Carter Owens having a huge game by going 3-for-3 with two RBI. Brairen Denson and Connor Humphrey drove in three runs each, while Michael Hagan drove in two runs.

Also recording hits were Tanner Palsgrove, Jacob Tipps and Kian French.

Brairen Denson picked up his second win on the season by going the distance. He struck out five batters and allowed just two hits.

Covington played stellar defensively by not committing a single error under windy conditions.

The victory ends a three-game skid for Covington as the Buccs improve to 2-3 overall and 1-1 in the TRC.
