|A BIG WIN FOR THE LADY BUCCS...
The Covington Lady Buccs captured their first win of the season by sweeping rival Newton in three games, 29-19, 25-20 and 25-23.

Working to improve - that's been the primary focus of a Covington volleyball team that is playing with just two juniors and a boat load of sophomores and freshman.
And if Tuesday's three-game sweep of rival Newton is any indication, Covington is on the right track.
"We continue to get better," said Covington coach Ashley Miller. "We're starting to communicate much better and doing things the right way. It takes time, but we're headed in the right direction."
Covington found itself behind 10-7 in the opening game, but stormed back to take a 25-19 win as confidence and enthusiasm increased with each point.
That confidence carried over into the second game in a 25-20 win, but youthful mistakes cost Covington in the third game as Newton built a 19-14 lead.
After a timeout, the Lady Buccs refocused and battled its way back for a 25-23 win to seal the match.
"They really wanted to win this game," said Miller of her girls. "We grew up a little bit tonight. If we play like this, give this kind of effort every night, we can win games."
And it was a big win for the fact that it was the first win of the season and it came against a neighboring rival.
"Newton is very well coached," Miller praised. "You can tell that by a lot of the things they were trying to do. They are headed in the right direction."
And so is Covington as several players contributed in the victory.
Junior Jessica Dammeyer was all over the court with 27 digs, while sophomore Arianna Richards dished out 20 assists.
Sophomore Brooke Gostomsky had six kills, while freshmen Rachel York and Lexi Long each had five kills.
Covington, now 1-4 overall and 1-1 in the CCC, travels to Mississinawa Valley on Thursday.
