GIRLS THREE-PEAT, BOYS FINISH RUNNER-UP...
The Covington girls track team claimed their third consecutive Cross County Conference title win Saturday with 155 team points, while the boys came up just five points short of Miami East to finish runner-up.
Cade Harshbarger swept the 110 and 300 meter hurdles.

MAY 12, 2018 - WEST ALEXANDRIA
For the third consecutive year the Covington girls track team walked off the track at Twin Valley South High School with a league championship trophy after an impressive performance. The girls finished won five events and accumulated 155 team points - 58.50 points ahead of runner-up Miami East.

The boys track team unfortunately came up just short of claiming a league title of their own as they fell just five points short of champion Miami East. The Buccs accumulated 112 team points, while the Vikings finished with 117 team points in what was a two-team race.

The girls 4x800 relay team of Ashlyn Plessinger, Kelsey Dysinger, Danielle Alexander and Paige Boehringer won in the time of 10:33.80; the 4x200 relay team on Maci White, Tori Lyle, Morgan Lowe and Shae Robinson won in the time of 1:53.09 and the 4x400 relay team of Ashlyn Plessinger, Paige Boehringer, Rayna Horner and Breanna Kimmel won in the time of 4:13.45.

Individually for the girls, Lauren Christian won the shot put (41-02.00), Rayna Horner won the 400 meter dash (59.51) and Paige Boehringer won the 800 meter run (2:30.80). Breanna Kimmel also broke the school record of 12.60 set in 2013 by Jackie Siefring in the 100 meter dash with a new record time of 12.37.

For the boys, Cade Harshbarger swept the 110 and 300 meter hurdles. He finished the 110 distance in the time of 15.02 and the 300 meters in 41.70.

The boys 4x200 meter relay team of Alex Shaffer, Gray Harshbarger, Nathan Lyle and Duncan Cooper won in the time of 1:34.24, while the 4x400 meter relay team of Gray Harshbarger, Cade Harshbarger, Tyler Freeman and Nathan Lyle won in the time of 3:34.00.

Covington travels to Piqua on Tuesday for the opening day of the district championships.
