The Covington girls track team got off to a great start to the 2017 season by placing second as a team in the Versailles Lady Tiger Classique on Saturday.
Lauren Christian set the tone for a great day by taking first in the shot put with a toss of 37-4, which established a new school record. She also won the discus with a distance of 103-10.
Breanna Kimmel won the 200 meter dash in the time of 27.22 and took second in the 100 meter dash in 13.43, while Natalie Snyder won the 110 meter hurdles (17.54), Rayna Horner won the 400 meter dash (59.57) and Anna Dunn won the 1600 meter run (5:33.32). Dunn also finished third in the 800 with a time of 2:33.30, while Snyder placed sixth in the 300 meter hurdles (54.39).
The 4x400 relay team of Rayna Horner, Breanna Kimmel, Paige Boehringer and Kesley Designer won in the time of 4:20.54 to give Covington championships in seven events. Beohringer also placed 8th in the 800 with a time of 2:43.94.
Also placing at the meet for Covington were Kelsey McReynolds (4th in the shot - 32-0), Morgan Lowe (5th in the 200 - 29.46), Danielle Alexander (8th in the 3200 - 14:06.22), Danielle Rose (8th in the 100 hurdles - 18.84) and Kelsey Designer (9th in the poole vault - 7-6).
The 4x200 relay team of Maci White, Tori Lyle, Kailyn Pond and Morgan Lowe finished 6th (1:59.05), while the 4x100 relay team compiled of the same girls took third in the time of 55.87.
