COVINGTON - The Covington boys won the Covington Invitational Friday night, while the girls finished eighth.

Winning for the Buccs were Sam Christian, shot put, 50-8 1-4; and Dustin Fickert, 800, 2:03.5. The Buccs took second in several events: Troy Cron in the 110 meter hurdles (15.6); the 3200 meter relay team (8:30.2), Willy Hoffert in the 1600 meter run (4:48.7); the 800 meter relay (1:34.5); Jake Bitner in the 200 meter dash (23.5) and the 1600 meter relay team (3:31.8).

The girls didn't have any first place finishes, but competed very well against a strong field.

Jenna Rindler and Heidi Snipes had the highest finishes as Rindler took second in the discus (93-09.05) and Snipes placed second in the 800 meter run (2:23.7).
