TRACK TEAMS FINISH 6TH AND 7TH AT SOUTH...
The Covington boys and girls track teams competed in the Fred Durkle Invitational at Twin Valley South on Friday.

With several performers sitting out with injuries, the Covington boys and girls track teams took part of the Fred Durkle Invitational at Twin Valley South. The boys claimed sixth place with 53.50 team points, while the girls came in seventh with 43 team points.
Leading the way for the boys once again was senior Brock Iddings, who fell short of the school record in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15.7. Still, his time was good enough for first place as he topped Jake Eby of Valley View, who finished with the fastest time in the qualifying rounds.
Iddings followed with a second place finish in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 41.7 as Eby edged him out at the finish line with a time of 41.5.
He also claimed a third place finish in the long jump with a distance of 20 feet even.
The girls had two performers take second as Holly Tobias was runner-up in the 800 meter run (2:37.8) and Renee Otte took second in the 400 meter dash (65.2). Otte also finished fifth in the 200 meter dash in 28.4 as she returned from an injury and is yet to compete at 100%.
The track teams will compete in the County Meet on Tuesday.
