The Covington boys and girls track teams took part in the Miami East Invitational on Friday with the boys finishing in sixth and the girls taking ninth.
For the boys, the team accumulated 58 team points in the twelve-team meet, while the girls tallied 40 points while competing against 10 other teams.
Brock Iddings was Covington's lone meet champion with a first place finish in the 110 meter hurdles. The senior's winning time in the event was 16.86 as he was the only competitor to finish under 17 seconds.
Iddings also had solid performances in three other events with a second place finish in the long jump (19-09.50 feet), a third place finish in the high jump (5-08) and a fourth place finish in the 300 meter hurdles (44.32).
Jake Wise placed fourth in the discuss with a toss of 130 feet, 11 inches, while Adam Zelik claimed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 42-07.
Three more Buccaneer performers recorded individual places as well with Levi VanDeGrift taking sixth in the 1600 meter run (5:09.41), Willie Hoffert placing sixth in the 3200 meter run (11:20.39) and Logan Hall also taking a sixth place finish in the pole vault (9-06).
Four of the boy's relay teams also placed at the invitational.
The 4x800 meter relay team of Curtis Dysinger, Zack Gibson, Willie Hoffert and Levi VanDeGrift placed fourth in the time of 9:27.32.
Bill Dickey, Jeff Zimmerman, Logan Hall and Josh Boehringer combined to take seventh in the 4x200 meter relay with a time of 1:43.99, while the 4x400 relay team of Logan Hall, Bill Dickey, Zack Gibson and Curtis Dysinger also claimed seventh with a time of 3:55.34
Rounding out the placers was the 4x100 meter relay team of Jake Wise, Jeff Zimmerman, Zack Gibson and Logan Hall which placed eighth (49.00).
The girls were led by Alyssa Angle, who was their highest placer by taking third in the high jump with a leap of 4 feet, 8 inches.
Ashley Diltz and Holly Tobias each placed in two individual events, with Diltz taking sixth in the 1600 meter run (5:59.51) and seventh in the 3200 meter run (14:10.44).
Tobias earned a fifth place finish in the 400 meter dash (1:07.60) and a sixth place finish in the 800 meter run (2:43.78).
Renee Otte was just ahead of Tobias in the 400 meter dash as she claimed fourth with a time of 1:06.33.
Also placing as an individuals were Ashley Hoblit with seventh in the discuss (89-07) and Rachel Rindler with seventh in the 200 meter dash (30.21).
Four of the girl's relay team placed as well with the 4x800 team leading the way with a third place finish. The team of Alyssa Angle, Ashley Diltz, Josselyn Tobias and Holly Tobias ran the race in 11:01.30.
Also performing well was the 4x400 meter relay team of Renee Otte, Josselyn Tobias, Alyssa Angle and Holly Tobias with a fourth place finish in the time of 4:38.36.
The 4x200 meter relay team of Rachel Rindler, Erin Waterfall, Josselyn Tobias and Kelsey Tobias took seventh with a time of 2:08.72, while the 4x100 meter relay team of Rachel Rindler, Alyssa Angle, Erin Waterfall and Kelsey Tobias placed eighth (57.96).
The track teams make the rip to Ansonia on Tuesday.
