In front of the hometown crowd, the girls track team took 5th and the boys finished 8th at the Covington Invitational.

Junior Brock Iddings stole the show for the hometown crowd by capturing the title in the 110 meter hurdles with a winning time of 16.1. He advanced to the finals by winning his first heat in 16.2. Iddings also took third in the 300 meter hurdles in 43.2.

Also finishing first was Alex Christian in the Discuss. Christian threw nearly two-feet longer than the second competitor as she won with a distance of 101'1".

Placing third for the girls was Meredith Tobias in both the 100 and 300 meter hurdles. Tobias finished the 100 meter hurdles in 17.00 and the 300 in 50.3. Tobias also captured fourth in the long jump (14'3.5").

Ashley Diltz set a personal best in the 800 meter run, finishing just six seconds off the school record pace in 2:29.9. Competing against three returning state qualifiers, Diltz took fourth in the event.

Jake Wise took fourth in the discuss with a throw of 122'9".

Two girls relay teams captured fourth as the 4x200 team finished in 1:54.3 and the 3200 meter relay team ran a 10:24.3.

Covington travels to Twin Valley South on Thursday for the league meet.
