The Covington girls placed 8th and the boys finished 10th at the Fred Durkle Invitational at Twin Valley South.

The girls track team had a solid performance at the Fred Durkle Invitational at Twin Valley South High School on Friday despite missing some key performers to to illness and injury. The Lady Buccs took 8th out of the 14 teams with 48.0 points.
Still competing without 2006 state qualifier Renee Otte, the Lady Buccs found themselves without the services of junior Ashley Diltz. Diltz placed in fourth events this past week against Miami East, but was unable to compete on Friday.
Still, seniors Meredith Tobias, Cheslea Tebbe and Alex Christian put together solid efforts for Covington. Tobias took 2nd in the 110 meter hurdles, 3rd in the 300 meter hurdles and 2nd in the long jump. Tebbe took 4th in the 400 meter dash and 6th in the 800 meter run, while Christian captured 7th in the 800 and 6th in the discuss.
The girls 4x800 meter relay team placed 3rd, while the 4x400 and the 2x200 relay teams took 4th and 7th respectively.
The Covington boys track team continues to suffer from the lack of numbers at they finished 10th out of 14 teams with 48.00 points. Conference rival Arcanum captured the team title with 92.50 points.
There were some highlights for the Buccs as Brock Iddings did very well in both the 110 and 300 meter hurdles - two events new to the junior. In just his second race in the 110 meter hurdles, Iddings took second in the time of 16.40. He then ran for the first time in the 300 meter hurdles and took 4th in 45.00.
Another junior, Jake Wise had a big day in the discuss. Wise captured 3rd with a thorw of 129 feet, 4 inches.
The Buccs' 4x800 meter relay team took sixth, while the 4x400 meter relay team finished 8th.
