LADY BUCCS RECORD COMEBACK WIN...
The Covington Lady Buccs overcame an eight-run fourth inning by Russia to record a come-from-behind win, 9-8.

APRIL 6, 2019 - COVINGTON
The Covington softball put together a near masterpiece in six of the seven innings played on Saturday, but one inning nearly cost the Lady Buccs a victory.

Covington opened the scoring with a run in the second on and RBI single by Allie Garman and held the 1-0 lead after three innings of play.

But the wheels fell off for the Lady Buccs in the top of the fourth as Russia was able to take advantage of uncharacteristic miscues in the field by Covington to plate eight runs for an 8-1 lead.

The Lady Buccs responded with a pair of runs in the second and then reclaimed the lead with six runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. The big hit came once again from Allie Garman, who drilled a bases-loaded double off of the outfield fence.

From there pitcher Kenzie Long and the Covington defense closed the show to preserve the 9-8 win.

German led Covington at the plate as she went 3-for-3 with two singles and a double. She also drove in four runs on the day.

Makenna Gostomsky, and Morgan Studebaker also collected multiple hits for the Lady Buccs.

Kenzie Long earned the win for Covington. She went all seven innings, allowing six hits and eight runs while striking out eight.

Covington (3-3) travels to New Bremen on Monday.
