LADY BUCCS HOLD OFF GRITTY PANTHERS...
The Covington Lady Buccs overcame sluggish play and a very determined Tri-County North team to push their record to 14-2 with a 6-3 win.

APRIL 19, 2016 - COVINGTON
The Covington softball team found itself in a battle on Tuesday, trailing 2-0 after two innings against a gritty and determined Tri-County North team.

The Lady Buccs, who were stymied by Tri-County North pitcher Cassi Stinson, were able to get some offense rolling with three runs in the bottom of the third and another in the fourth to take a 4-2 lead.

This was after the Lady Panthers had left bases loaded in both the first two innings.

But North was able to responded in the top of the fifth with a solo home run to close the gap to 4-3.

The Lady Buccs then scored a run in the fifth and another in the sixth to hold on for the 6-3 win.

Brooke Gostomsky was able to overcome a sluggish start in the circle by hurling a complete game. She struck out six batters on the day.

Arianna Richards went 3-for-4 and Lexie Long had two hits in three at bats, while Sarah Hubbard doubled. Brooke Gostomsky, Kara Schaffer and Ashley Cecil also recorded hits for Covington.

Covington improves to 14-2 overall and 6-0 in the CCC.
