LADY BUCCS BEAT MINSTER 12-2 IN FIVE...
The Covington Lady Buccs maintained the momentum gained from a gritty efffort over the weekend by dominating Minster 12-2 in five innings.
Covington coach Dean Delinger has his team making strides toward a late-season push.

APRIL 18, 2016 - MINSTER
Brooke Gostomsky was in command in the circle, the defense was solid behind her and the Lady Buccs pounded out 11 hits. And it all led to a 12-2 run-rule victory over Minster in five innings on Monday.

Gostomsky allowed just one hit in the contest and struck out five in going the distance.

Justice Warner, Lexie Long and Brooke Gostosmky all went 2-for-2 on the day with one of Warner’s hits going for a double.

Sarah Hubbard went 2-for-3 with a double, while Allison Babylon tripled and Taylor Ray and Arianna Richards connected for singles.

Covington jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first two innings and then scored four more runs in the top of the fifth to push the advantage to 12-0.

In an attempt to prevent the run-rule, Minster took advantage of a Covington error with a base hit to score two runs in the bottom of the fifth.

But Covington was able to get the final outs needed to get itself back on the bus early with a 12-2 win.

The win boosts Covington's record to 13-2 on the season. It hosts Tri-County North tonight.

SCORE BY INNINGS:
Covington - 3 5 0 0 4 = 12 - 11 - 1
Minster - 0 0 0 0 2 = 2 - 1 - 1

Lexie Long went 2-for-2.
Kara Schaffer and the Covington defense put together another solid effort.
