LADY BUCCS ROLL OVER 'HAWKS...
Covington continues to roll as it cruised by Mississinawa Valley 11-1 to improve to 17-0 on the season.
Freshman Erin Olson and the younger players continue to contribute in big ways to a deep and talented Lady Buccs team.
MAY 1, 2013 - UNION CITY
The Covington Lady Buccs traveled to Mississinawa Valley Wednesday afternoon and cruised to an 11-1 win to improve to 17-0 on the season.

"Dull, dull game," said Covington coach Dean Denlinger. "I don't know if it was because of last night (the win over Bradford) or what, it just seemed like a long game."

Covington led 3-1 after three innings, but broke the game open in the top of the fourth with five runs and then closed out the contest with a run in the sixth and two more in the seventh.

Morgan Arbogast picked up the win for Covington as she struck out four batters and allowed five hits in six innings of work.

Freshman Brooke Gostomsky recorded the save as she struck out two of the three batters she faced in the seventh inning.

"It was nice to get Casey (Yingst) some rest tonight," said Denlinger. "Arby (Arbogast) threw pretty well and Brooke's change-up was unbelievable. That's not a bad hitting team either. They hit the ball well."

Covington was able to get all but one of its players into the game as Brittanie Flora wasn't able to go due to a migraine headache.

"We got all 18 girls in," Denlinger said. "We subbed five defensive players in the last inning and didn't miss a beat. It's nice to see our younger kids contribute. That's a good group of girls."

Jessie Shilt continued her hot streak with a pair of base hits and three stolen bases.

Connor Schaffer went 2-2 with a triple, while Haley Adams and Jessica Dammeyer tripled, Casey Yingst doubled and Heidi Cron singled.

Covington looks to keep rolling tomorrow night against Franklin Monroe.
