COVINGTON BEATS MISSISSINAWA 21-0...
The Lady Buccs continued their hots streak swinging the bats as they pounded Mississinawa Valley for 16 hits in a 21-0 victory.

MAY 9, 2009 - UNION CITY
After last night's thrilling victory over Twin Valley South, the Covington Lady Buccs avoided the let down by thrashing Mississinawa Valley 21-0 in five innings.

Chloe Shell went the distance in recording the one-hitters. The sophomore struck out 12 of the 16 batters she faced and didn't allow a single walk.

Kristen Boggs also had a big day by going 3-5 with a home run and five RBI, while Sarah Westfall was 2-3 with four RBI.

Katie Dickey, Michelle Leistner and Carole Bayse each doubled in the contest with Dickey driving in four runs and Leistner three.

Shell helped herself out at the plate with two hits and two RBI, while freshman Halley Smith drove in a run on a base hit.

Another freshman, Shelby Kihm also recorded a hit for Covington.

Covington scored two runs in the first, four in the second, two more in the third and then broke out with a ten-run inning in the fourth.

The Lady Buccs closed out the contest with three more runs in the five.

The victory improves Covington's record to 20-2 overall and 10-1 in the Cross County Conference.
