LADY BUCCS OPEN SEASON WITH ROAD WIN...
Solid defense and pitching leads Covington to 6-2 victory over Fort Loramie in season opener.

March 27, 2007 – FORT LORAMIE
The Covington Lady Buccs opened the season in grand fashion by capturing an impressive road win over Fort Loramie, 6-2.

Pitcher Jessica Shrout went the distance for the Lady Buccs, only allowing six hits and strucking out four batters on the evening.

Neither team could get much offense going over the first four innings as Covington came to bat in the top of the fifth with the score tied at 1-1.

The Lady Buccs broke the game open with a four-run inning as Kristen Boggs racked a double. Jesie Jennings also tripled for Covington.

Down 5-1, Fort Loramie attempted to get back into the game in the bottom of the sixth with a run to cut the margin to 5-2. But Covington closed out the contest in the seventh with another run and then held Fort Loramie scoreless in its final at bat for the 6-2 victory.

On the day, Covington tallied six hits and didn't have a single error, while Fort Loramie had six hits and one error.

The Lady Buccs are back in action tomorrow night (Wednesday) as Graham comes to town in another non-conference match-up.
