| THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY...
The Covington Lady Buccs failed to capitalize on opportunities and the result was a dissappointing defeat at the hands of Bradford.

Over the passed few years the Covington vs Bradford rivalry had been thrilling on the softball diamond and Thursday's match-up at Bradford was no different. It was a game of limited opportunities and the Lady Railroaders took advantage of theirs for a 2-1 win.
Covington scored its lone run in the first inning as Jesie Jennings singled and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Kristen Boggs. Unfortunately for the Lady Buccs, they left runners at second and third.
The Lady 'Roaders responded in the bottom half of the first thanks to a Covington error and two passed balls.
Covington had another scoring opportunity in the second inning as it had runners at first and third with one out. Again, the runners were stranded as the Lady Buccs couldn't come up with the clutch hit to convert.
In spit of having just two hits on the night, Bradford made those hits count in the fourth by scoring its second run to take a 2-1 lead.
Covington had golden opportunities in the sixth and seventh as it had runners on first and second in both innings. On each occasion, Bradford shut the door and prevented the Lady Buccs from scoring to preserve the 2-1 win.
Jessica Shrout was once again stellar on the mound, going the distance and striking out seven. She only walked one and allowed just two hits.
Bradford's Katelyn Selanders was just as stellar, picking up the win by striking our five and walking three. She allowed six hits, but the Lady Railroader defense had her back as it didn't commit a single error the entire night.
Covington drops to 6-2 overall and suffers it first conference loss to falls to 3-1.
