KIRKER SETS NEW SCHOOL CAREER ASSIST RECORD

COVINGTON – Covington hosted undefeated Brookville on Tuesday and came up short in three of the four sets played. Brookville escaped with the win 16-25, 15-25, 25-23, 23-25.

“We are right there,” said Covington coach Ellie French. “We just need to believe in ourselves more and continue to work on correcting our mistakes.”

In the process, junior Taylor Kirker broke the school record for the most career assists in rally scoring (2004-present). She now has 1,394 career assists, which broke the previous record of 1,377 held by Meredith Tobias.

The Lady Buccs drop to 0-2 on the young season and Brookville goes to 4-0.

Taylor Kirker – 32 assists, 2 aces, 4 kills, 1 solo block, 1 block assist and 8 digs.
Kearsten Wiggins – 1 assist, 1 ace, 3 kills and 8 digs.
Carlie Besecker – 1 ace, 3 solo blocks, 13 kills and 14 digs.
Addi Ventura – 7 kills and 1 dig.
Hailey Naff – 5 kills and 2 aces.
Hollan Koffer – 1 ace, 1 block assist, 1 kill and 2 digs.
Dakohta Kenworthy – 6 kills and 2 digs.
Mazelle Reck – 1 solo block, 1 kill and 2 digs.
Ramse Vanderhorst – 3 digs.
Jayda McClure – 1 assist and 3 digs.

Covington Junior Varsity defeated Brookville 25-19, 25-8. They are 2-0 overall.

Covington will open TRC play by hosting Troy Christian next Tuesday.
