STUDENT/ATHLETES OF THE YEAR...
Jessica Snipes and Curtis Dysinger were selected as Student/Athletes of the Year and each earned a $500 scholarship from HealthCare Pharmacy.

May 29, 2008 – COVINGTON
Prior to the 2007-08 school year 1977 Covington graduate and business man Jay Meyer of HealthCare Pharmacy had an idea to reward Covington student/athletes who excel on the playing field and in the classroom.

That idea was to choose a male and female "Student/Athlete of the Month" on a monthly basis and recognize those selections on GoBuccs.com.

Each selection was then eligible for one of the two $500 scholarships, one each given to a senior male and female at the end of the school year.

The scholarship was named the HealthCare Pharmacy Academic/Athlete Scholarship.

"We wanted to provide another incentive for the kids - something they could shoot for in athletics and in the classroom," said Meyer in regards to the scholarship. "Promoting it on GoBuccs.com was a good avenue because all the kids check out the site."

Strict guidelines were established for the scholarship.

"We based the selections on a minimum 3.5 GPA, character, athletic accomplishment and the degree of athletic participation - in that order," Meyer explained. "Input from coaches, teachers and administrators all came into play when making the selections."

The winners of the first ever HealthCare Pharmacy Academic/Athletic Scholarship were Curtis Dysinger and Jessica Snipes.

Both exceeded the criteria required in earning the $500 scholarships.

Dysinger was a four-year participant in both Cross Country and Track, where he became a senior leader on the Cross Country team that finished ninth in the Regional Meet.

Academically, Dysinger was stellar as he finished sixth in his class with a 3.988 GPA. His academic awards consisted of Honor Student, National Honor Society, Award of Merit, Academic Excellence Award, OHSAA Scholar-Athlete Scholarship Nominee, Outstanding Senior Boy, Dan Rindler Memorial, Eagles/ Don Cook Memorial, Optimist Community Leader Scholarship, Tiffin Trustee Scholarship and the Todd Pickering Memorial.

Curtis is the son of Thomas and Charity Kinnison and will attend Tiffin University. He plans to run Cross Country and Track and major in Criminal Justice.

Jessica Snipes excelled in Volleyball and Softball for the Lady Buccs over her four-year high school career. She was also a football and basketball cheerleader.

She finished seventh in her class with a 3.892 GPA. Her academic accomplishments include; Honor Student, National Honor Society, President's Award of Excellence, Award of Merit, Honors Deploma, Dan Rindler Memorial, Eagles/Don Cook Memorial, the Buckeye State National Scholarship and the Cincinnatus Scholarship.

Jessica is the daughter of Jeff and Linda Snipes and plans to major in business at the University of Cincinnati.

The monthly winners of the "Student/Athlete of the Month" were Bill Dickey and Renee Otte in September; Ashley Diltz and Curtis Dysinger in October; Andy Hittle and Ashley Hoblit in November; Jake Jennings and Renee Otte in December; Alyssa Angle and Jordy Meyer in January; Kayla Fissel and Nate Lavey in February; Jessica Snipes and Zack Gibson in March; Holley Tobias and Ben Christian in April; and Harry Hicks and Michelle Leistner in May.

Jessica Snipes earned recognition as both an athlete and a student in her senior year.
