2011 CLASS GRADUATES...
The "Class of 2011" received their diplomas as the Covington High School graduation ceremony was held at Hobart Arena in Troy on Sunday.

VALEDICTORIAN, ANDREW DEHART

Valedictorian Andrew Michael DeHart is the son of Mike and Janet DeHart. His high academic standing has enabled him to receive a President’s Award for Educational Excellence, an Award of Merit from the State Board of Education, an Academic Excellence Award, an Honors Diploma, the CHS Mathematics Departmental Award, the Wendy’s Heisman Award, a Robert Byrd Scholarship nomination, the Honda-OSU Partnership Math Medal, and an AB Cole Post 80 Recognition Award. Andrew will be attending Duke University with a major in engineering.

From Duke, he was awarded a Duke University Scholarship. From the local Dollars for Scholars program, Andrew was granted the EagleLaunch Academic/Athlete Scholarship, the PBM STEMM Scholarship, and a Felger scholarship. He was also awarded a Thelma Ross Dalton Scholarship and the GMVWA/Kettering Sports Medicine Center Scholarship.

Andrew’s activities at Covington High School include National Honor Society (president 12), Student Council (vice-president 12), Class Officer (Secretary 9), Key Club, Spanish Club, Art Club, PLUS Team Youth Staff, peer tutor, wrestling, and baseball.

SALUTATORIAN, JOE WILSON

Salutatorian Joseph William Wilson is the son of James and Aggie Wilson. Joe’s high academic standing has enabled him to receive a President's Award for Educational Excellence, an Award of Merit from the State Board of Education, an Academic Excellence Award, an Honors Diploma, a Franklin B. Walters All-Scholastic Award nomination, the CHS Foreign Language Departmental Award, and an AB Cole Post 80 Recognition Award. Joe will be attending Bluffton University with a major in Spanish.

From Bluffton University, Joe has received an Academic Honors with Distinction Scholarship. From the local Dollars for Scholars program, Joe received an Eagles/Don Cook Memorial, the Dan Rindler Memorial, and a Felger Scholarship.

Joe’s activities include National Honor Society, marching band, pep band, concert band, chorus, play cast and crew, Key Club, Muse Machine, Yearbook Editor, Buccanews Manager, Spanish Club (vice- president 12), Drama Club, peer tutor, and CHS school mascot. Joe was also an Americanism test winner, a Buckeye Boys’ State Delegate, and a Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Ambassador.
