2010 CLASS GRADUATES...
The "Class of 2010" received their diplomas as the Covington High School graduation ceremony was held at Hobart Arena in Troy on Sunday.

VALEDICTORIAN, SHELBY HOBLIT

Valedictorian Shelby Nicole Hoblit is the daughter of Dan and Damita Hoblit. Her high academic standing has enabled her to receive a President's Award for Educational Excellence, an Award of Merit from the State Board of Education, an Academic Excellence Award, and Honors Diploma, the Outstanding Senior Girl Award, the Science and Mathematics Departmental Awards, and an AB Cole Post 80 Recognition Award. Shelby will be attending the Ohio State University with a major in pharmaceutical sciences.

From the Ohio State University, she was awarded a Provost Scholarship. From the local Dollars for Scholars program, Shelby was granted an Eagles Scholarship, the Eagles Auxiliary Scholarship, the PBM STEMM Scholarship, the Pepsi Athlete Scholarship and a Felger scholarship.

Shelby's activities at Covington High School include National Honor Society (secretary 11; vice-president 12), Student Council (vice-president 12), Key Club (treasurer 11; president 12), Spanish Club, Art Club, PLUS Team Youth Staff, peer tutor, student office aid, volleyball, basketball and softball.

SALUTATORIAN, ALYSSA ANGLE

Salutatorian Alyssa Dawn Angle is the daughter of Tim and Cindy Angle. Alyssa's high academic standing had enabled her to receive the President's Award for Educational Excellence, an Award of Merit from the State Board of Education, an Academic Excellence Award, an Honors Diploma, the Foreign Language Departmental Award, the Principal's Leadership Award and an AB Cole Post 80 Recognition Award. Alyssa will be attending Capital University with a major in exercise science (pre-physical therapy)

From Capital University, Alyssa has received a Capital Connect Award, a Presidential Scholarship, and a Capital Grant Award. From the local Dollars for Scholars program, Alyssa received the Optimist Community Leader Scholarship, the Judy Snyder/Kiwanis Scholarship, the Remidi Academic Athlete Scholarship, and a Felger Scholarship. She was also awarded an Ohio High School Volleyball Coaches Association District Award scholarship, a Thelma Ross Dalton Memorial Scholarship, Little Kinger Scholarship and the Miss Covington Scholarship.

Alyssa's activities at Covington High School include National Honor Society (treasurer 11; president 12), Class Officer (vice-president 9; president 10, 11, 12), Student Council (president 12), Key Club (secretary 11; vice-president 12), Spanish Club (secretary 10; president 12), Art Club, PLUS Team Youth Staff, peer tutor, student office aid, volleyball, basketball, track and cheerleading.
