BUCC BOYS TAKE SECOND IN SECTIONAL..
The Covington Buccaneers scored a 344 to earn a runner-up finish at the sectional golf tournament on Tuesday.

The Covington boy's golf team made sure this season had a different ending than last year by finishing second to Lehman in the Sectional Tournament at Beechwood Golf Course, Tuesday.

Lehman earned its 10th straight trip to district and defended its sectional title with a 319 total, Covington was second at 344 and Russia won the fifth-man tiebreaker with Triad for third at 353.

The Buccs are just happy to extend its season after missing by one spot last year.

"We had all the guys back from last year," Covington coach Bill Wise said. "That's been a big goal since the sectional tournament last year. The guys did a great job. I really believe we have a shot (at state) next week."

Consistency was a key for the Buccs.

Eric Beckstedt led the way with an 81.

Other Covington scores were Andrew Tobias 87, Christian Carder 88, Martin Leistner 88, Sam Slusher 92.

"We were real consistent all day," Wise said. "Sam (Slusher) was playing sick, so 92 was a pretty good scoring considering that."

Covington's season continues next week at the district meet.

Andrew Tobias and the Buccs are headed to the district tournament next week.
