Local teams opened the season playing against cancer at the Lady Buccs' "PINK OUT" Invitational.

The Covington Lady Buccs golf team opened the season playing for a good cause in the Pink Out Golf Invitational at Echo Hill in Piqua of Saturday. Proceeds from the event went towards cancer research.
Fifteen teams competed in the event with Covington placing ninth as a team with 433 points, 37 shots better than last year.
Tipp City won the invitational with a meet record 323 points with Graham taking second with 329 points. Laura Murray of Tipp City set an individual meet record with a score of 70.
Covington was led by Sarah Westfall with a 97 and Chloe Shell, who recorded a 99.
Other bright spots for Covington were freshmen Cassie Ingle and Jamie Crowell, who recorded a 52 and a 55 on the front nine. Ingle finished witrh a 115, while Crowell, who first picked up a club just two weeks ago, recorded a 124.
"The Pink-Out was a huge success as nearly every girl (71) participating wore something pink," said Covington coach Ron Schultz. "Over $1050 has been raised to date for the Stefanie Spielman Fund for Breast Cancer Research at OSU's James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Center. The Covington Eagles once again made it possible for this event to go on. A huge THANK YOU to THE COVINGTON EAGLES. Also , thanks to the parents of the Covington girls's team for all of their help in setting up and helping during the tournament, to Chip Fox and the crew at Echo Hills Golf Course, and especially to my wife, son, mother-in-law, aunt and cousins who are always there when I need them."
Named to the all-tournament team were Laura Murray, Tipp City (70), Megan Swan, Tipp City (74), Brooke Albers, Fort Loramie (74), Jessie Jordan, Graham (75) and Lindsey Phillips, Graham (82).
