| END OF AN ERA AT DISTRICT...
The 2006 Covington girls golf team put the program on the map as it finished 11th in its first trip to District with a team score of 394.
It was an unbelievable accomplishment for a school with just 102 girls. Consider, every other school in the tournament has over twice that many, while the biggest of schools had as many as 998 girls.
"The girl's came away with the satisfaction of knowing we can play with the BIG girls," said a pleased Covington coach Ron Schultz.
The performance at District was bitter-sweet as it signified an end of an era in girls golf at Covington High School.
Seniors Ashley Johnson and Sarah Ciriegio played their last matches and leave the program in the best shape it has ever been.
Johnson walks off the course as the top women's golfer in school history. She owns virtually every school record pertaining to golf, including a nine-hole record of 35.
Johnson finished 38th with a score of 92 under adverse weather conditions. Teammate Amanda Frittz finished 41st with a 93.
