GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY HISTORY...

Girls high school Cross Country in Ohio began as a sport in 1978 with the distance of 2.5 miles. In 1982, the distance was increased to 5,000 meters (approximately 3.1 miles). Covington's first ever runner in Girls Cross Country was Korrine Calrk in the fall of 1982 and she competed as an individual during that season.

In the fall of 1986, Covington put together its first team to run at the varsity level under coach Jum Meyer. The team consisted of: Annie Thompson, Lisa Kenworthy, Tricia Zell, Jill Emmert, Heather Stover and Julia Huelsman.

The 1999 Girls Varsity Cross Country Team became the first girls team in Covington history to qualify and compete at the state level as a team. They finished in 14th place. Members of this group were: Libby McMaken, Annie Stacy, Kelly Graher, Logan Graher, Emily Brumbaugh, Michelle Marion and Lisa Cron.

In 2015, the Lady Buccs finishing 9th at the state meet. Members of the state participants were: Seniors Carly Shell and Julianna Yinsgt, Junior Anna Dunn, Sophomores Emma Dammeyer and Kelsey Dysinger and Freshmen Ashlyn Plessinger and Paige Boehringer.

2016 Covington girls cross country team won the school's ninth league title, second district title, first regional championship and finished 7th at state.
