COVINGTON COMPETES AT ANNA FOR INVITE...
The boys and girls cross country teams competed at the Anna Invitational, with the girls taking 9th and the boys finishing 10th.

OCTOBER 4, 2008 - ANNA
The Covington Cross Country teams competed at the Anna Invitational this past Saturday. The Girls team placed 9th out of 18 teams, and the boys team placed 10th out of 23 teams.

The girls team was led by Carrie Spurgeon 32nd with a time of 21:05. Kayla Fissel was next placing 52nd 21:56, followed by Erin Waterfall 58th 22:20, Emily Fields 72nd 23:03, Julianna Simon 88th 23:21, Tabitha Smith 146th 26:27, and Alyssa Reck 147th 26:31.

"Today we ran extremely well as a team," said girls coach Libby Long. "They each had a race plan and stuck with it. They were all very happy after the race. Several girls ran personal best times today. We are looking forward to the League meet this Saturday."

The boys team was led by Andy Hittle who placed 31st with a time of 17:32. Willy Hoffert was next placing 35th with a time of 17:36, followed by Brandon Flora 44th 17:52, Darrell Thobe 62nd 18:13, Zach Shilt 116th 19:14, Michael Rosengarten 124th 19:19, Tyler Moody 159th 20:06, Harry Hicks 208th 21:21, Tyler Tebbe 224th 22:16, and Zac Plessinger 226th 22:21.

"The boys ran some great races today," boys coach Josh Long said. "This was the first time we have had three boys in the 17’s in a long time. I am very proud of how the boys are progressing each race."

The Junior High teams also had a successful day. The girls placed 4th, and the boys placed 2nd.

Tara Snipes placed 6th with a time of 12:52, Jessie Shilt was 9th 13:00, Brittany Diltz 15th 13:24, Connor Schaffer 53rd 14:57, and Jamie Crowell 82nd 15:50.

On the boys side, Dustin Fickert placed 3rd with a time of 11:13, Lane White was 10th 11:40, John Karrayannis 17th 11:57, Samuel Slusher 18th 11:58, Bryant Hicks 35th 12:35, Justin Millhouse 44th 12:50, and Bryan Phillis 113th 15:30.

Darrell Thobe and the Buccs placed fourth in the County Meet.
