The boys and girls cross country teams had a solid showing at the Greenville Treaty City invitational on Saturday.

The boys and girls cross country teams competed at the Greenville Treaty City Invitational on Saturday. The Treaty City Invitational is known for the for start of the race (a cannon) and the large number of runners (this year 1,897 runners competed in 8 total races).
Leading the way for the boys was Willy Hoffert placing 30th with a time of 18:19, followed by Andy Hittle 48th, 18:44, Brandon Flora 55th 18:49, Zach Shilt 106th 20:24, Darrell Thobe 114th 20:32, Michael Rosengarten 126th 21:01, Tyler Moody 152nd 22:22, Harry Hicks 162nd 22:51, and Zac Plessinger 181st 25:18.
"The boys did a good job racing today," said Covington coach Josh Long. "We pushed ourselves more right from the beginning. We will have another hard week of training, but we are looking forward to the upcoming weekend."
The girls were led by Carrie Spurgeon placing 27th with a time of 21:45, followed by Erin Waterfall 63rd 23:56, Julianna Simon 64th 23:59, Kayla Fissel 71st 24:12, Raquel Brant 104th 25:26, and Alyssa Reck 136th 30:12.
"The girls had a great day," said girls coach Libby Long. "Carrie was just a second behind her personal best, which is great for just the second race. Erin, Julianna, Kayla and Raquel did a nice job pack running and really trying to push and help each other. And Alyssa did a nice job pacing herself."
The Junior High Teams also had an outstanding weekend.
The boys team placed 3rd out out 34 teams (Div I, II, and III all in the same race).
Out of 326 runners in the race, Dustin Fickert led the way with an 8th place finishing in 11:47, followed by Lane White 22nd 12:20, Samuel Slusher 48th 12:46, Bryant Hicks 72nd 13:20, Justin Millhouse 75th 13:23, John Karayannis 84th 13:32, Dale Brant 153rd 14:21, Nick Tobias 247th 15:50, and Bryan Phillis 264th 16:15.
The girls team placed 6th out of 28 teams (Div. I, II, and III all in the same race).
Out of 320 runners, leading the way was Tara Snipes with a 6th place finish and a time of 13:07, followed by Brittany Diltz 14th 13:18, Jessie Shilt 26th 13:42, Kayleigh Cecil 71st 14:51, and Connor Schaffer 140th 15:43.
The teams will travel to Spencerville this Saturday.
