| 2007 GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM
With increased numbers and solid returning talent the girls cross country team looks to make some noise in 2007.
Strength in numbers is what the girls cross country team as in 2007 with ten girls on the roster. The numbers lead to competition, which hopefully leads to improvement and success.
At the top of the roster you'll find four returning letter winnings, including senior standout Ashley Diltz. Last season Diltz advanced to the regional meet and has her sights set on the state meet in November.
"Ashley is coming off of an outstanding track season where she broke the 1600 meter record," said coach Libby Long, a former standout runner who is in the Hall of Fame. "She's a terrific runner."
Joining Diltz as returning letter winners is senior Kaila Bowman and Ashley Hoblit and sophomore Alyssa Reck.
The experience of the returning runners will help in the development of some talented first year runners. Running for the first time at the high school level will be sophomore Tara McNutt and freshmen Emily Fields, Carrie Spurgeon, Kayla Fissel, Raquel Brant and Sarah Cote.
"The girl’s have worked hard throughout the summer," Long explained. "They are looking forward to improve as they gain experience. We are looking forward to watching them compete this season."
