COVINGTON WINS HOME QUAD MEET

COVINGTON – The Covington track program hosted a home quad meet on Tuesday against Bradford, Houston and Sidney’s B team and both Buccaneer boys and girls teams won in grand fashion.

The boys accumulated 101.5 team points and the girls tallied 92 team points to claim victory.

On the boys side, Covington won the 4×800 meter relay with a time of 9:05.90, the 4×400 meter relay with a time of 3:53.20. Freshman Filip McMaken won the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.40 and the 200 meter dash with a time of 24.40. Senior Asher Long won the 1600 with a time of 4:25.10, which broke the school record, and the 800 meter run with a time of 2:07.10. Sophomore Day’Lynn Garrett won the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 41.40 and the long jump with a distance of 18-01.00. Preston King won the high jump with a height of 6-01.00.

For the girls, Covington won the 4×800 meter relay with a time of 10:39.20, the 4×400 meter relay with a time of 4:33.60. Carlie Besecker won the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.00, the 200 meter dash with a time of 27.50, and the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:03.20. Johanna Welborn won the 1600 with a time of 5:54.60. Lilian Mumford won the long jump with a distance of 13-09.50.

The track program will compete in the Bradford quad meet on Friday.
