LADY BUCCS HOLD ON TO BEAT TROY CHRISTIAN...
Led by a game-high 25 points from Sammi Whiteman, the Covington Lady Buccs did just enough down the stretch to hold off Troy Christian, 46-43.
Makenzee Maschino came off the bench to score 7 huge points for Covington.

DECEMBER 8, 2018 - TROY
The Covington Lady Buccs gutted their way to a 46-43 win over Troy Christian on Saturday to improve to 5-1 on the season.

And it was a big second quarter by the Lady Buccs that proved to be the difference as Covington struggled shooting the basketball for much of the game.

Sammi Whiteman scored the Lady Buccs' first eight points of the contest and finished with a game-high 25 points.

Troy Christian led 12-11 after one before Covington went on a 16-8 run over the remainder of the half to take a 27-20 lead into the locker room at the break.

Troy Christian was able to cut the Covington advantage to five points by the end of the third quarter, but the Lady Buccs were able to hold off a late surge by the Eagles for the three-point win.

Much of that was due to Covington's ability to get to the free throw line as it converted on 16 of 21 from the charity stripe.

To go along with Whiteman's game-high 25 points, freshman Makenzee Maschino and senior Lillian Hamilton came off the bench to combine for 13 points as Maschino had 7 and Hamilton dropped in 6.

Morgan Kimmel scored six hard-earned points and Lauren Christian had two points to round out the scoring for the Lady Buccs.

Covington looks to keep the momentum rolling on Tuesday at Mississinawa Valley.
